Coming to terms with my postponed wedding

Thousands of unlucky couples that have organised to tie the knot in 2020 are being forced to postpone or cancel their wedding days because of coronavirus. They will have spent thousands of pounds on suppliers, their venues, hen do’s, stag do’s, and their honeymoon; hours and hours organizing and obsessing with the small things; for it all to be canceled or postponed. This can be seriously upsetting and disheartening.  I know, I’m going through it right now.

I have spoken to a number of people who’s weddings have been effected. We all feel the same way, selfish. Selfish for feeling so upset when people are losing their lives to this awful virus. But it’s no one’s fault, so we all have to ‘go with the flow’ and ride the storm, supporting each other along the way.

It’s okay to feel upset that our weddings won’t be going ahead as planned, it is okay to re-schedule, to cancel, to change the way you do things, to have a very small wedding (because Boris said we could). We will all come out the other end of this epidemic more considerate, caring, and stronger. Don’t forget, love doesn’t have an expiry date.

Light at the end of the tunnel

One really big positive thing that comes out of postponing your wedding is having more time to save more money! This could mean that you can add that magic mirror or LED Love letters to your supplier list, hire a wedding videographer or photographer. Maybe when you started planning this wasn’t possible due to budget restrictions, or the supplier wasn’t available on your wedding day?

The Importance of Videography

I am a videographer, so I am biased. But I can’t stress enough the importance of hiring a videographer for your wedding day. Maybe friends and family can’t attend your wedding now, your wedding video means that they won’t miss out! They get to watch and hear all the amazing moments. And, of course, this means you can watch them over and over again, for many years to come.

Thinking outside the box

For those who decide to carry on with a small wedding this year, you could use your professional wedding video to play on a big screen when it comes to your delayed reception party?!

If you’re getting married in the East Midlands and don’t have a videographer booked, please consider GeeK Video! You can email us at hello@geekvideo.co.uk or call or text Georgia on 0757 8503 227.

Best of luck with the rest of your wedding planning.
